Designed to meet the increasing concerns over environmental protection, LOHAS Rink is the first ever venue of its kind in Hong Kong to incorporate a natural, non-toxic and non-flammable CO2 chiller plant system. Making use of low GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerant, this facility helps minimise the negative impact on climate change and prevents damage to the ozone layer.
Taking full advantage of the system’s high safety and advanced energy-saving functions, the heat generated by the CO2 refrigerant can be recovered and converted at different temperature levels to meet a wide range of needs. For example, about 40% of the thermal energy can be recovered to pre-heat water as well as provide sub-floor freeze protection plus snow melting, while about 60% of recovered heat is used for sanitary hot water and dehumidification purposes. Eco-friendly and practical, this new cutting-edge technology is ideal for high temperature, high humidity cities like Hong Kong.
